Qualla-T Customer ServiceAs the New Year is upon us it is time to reflect how our place of work performed in 2023 and where possible improvements could be made for 2024. One area that any business should focus on as a refresher is “Customer Service and Hospitality,” since it is the basis of any place of work, which is serving your customers including your co-workers and your community.

Therefore if you want to revisit or learn how to build and maintain a positive visitor friendly business atmosphere and community to serve your customers and co-workers, then the Qualla T Customer Service Training being hosted by the N.C. Cooperative Extension, Jackson and Swain County Extension Centers is a good starting point for the new year. All participants will be Qualla T certified upon completion of the session. Qualla – T Customer Service is partially based on the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians set of core values and funded originally by the Cherokee Preservation Foundation’s “Vision Qualla.

This two (2) hour training reinforces the essential “customer service and hospitality skills” that are absolutely essential in any business, whether private or public, front-line employee, manager or business owner. Training will cover active listening and communication, understanding body language, enhanced professionalism both with customers and co-workers, stress management, managing difficult people, handling complaints and teamwork building. A self-assessment of your place of business’s customer service practices will also be provided, so that you have a baseline of where to possibly improve.

Another past practice of customer service from the pioneer days “Cowboy Ethics – Code of the West” will also be included briefly during this training, which also promotes positive personal and professional principles.

For more information and to schedule your business or organization for a training please contact Jackson and Swain County Extension Director Robert Hawk at 586-4009 or 488-3848, or by robert_hawk@ncsu.edu. Training can be provided at any time to meet your convenience such as a long luncheon, during or after business hours.
